EPO reaches the 2-millionth patent application milestone

On 10 December 2008, the European Patent Office (EPO) published its patent application No. EP 2 000 000. The published application describes a microbial fuel cell which can be applied to produce electricity from wastewater. It was filed in June 2007 by the researchers at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and with the assistance from Plougmann & Vingtoft.
The EPO received its first patent application in 1978 and 12 years later it reached its 1-millionth milestone.
